7 January 2008 Around an hour late, the 4L97 Trafford Park - Felixstowe freightliner hauled by 90048 with 90008 returning to One from attention at Crewe

8 January 2008 A visit to Rugby to see the work undertaken over Christmas on 8 January. 390023 heads south through platform 2 which is the new up fast. There are new sharp curves at either end of the station to regain the southbound alignment.

8 January 2008 The new down fast through line has been commissioned. 92030 is on the 6G62 Daventry - Bescot. Platform 1 is effectively a loop, only diesel hauled services can currently use the reinstated goods line off the flyover and what will become the down Coventry line north from platform 1.

8 January 2008 The only freight seen using the former down goods was 66503 on 4M94 which was held in platform one before crossing to the down fast and proceeding to Hams Hall via Nuneaton.

8 January 2008 A snatched shot of 153334 working empty stock from Birmingham to Bletchley (5B40) prior to taking up training duties on the Bletchley - Bedford where the class is due to replace the 150s.

With signals removed and overhead being removed on 10 January the up goods and up fast lines are out of use. All southbound freight and Northampton services use platform 4 limiting the photographic opportunities. 90016 is on 4L75 from Crewe to Felixstowe.

8 January 2008 90047 leads 86604 on the 4M88 Felixstowe - Crewe on the new down fast. Platform 2 is cut back at both ends to accomodate the realigned up fast. The severed connection off the flyover into platform 2 can just be seen between the train and the signal.

8 January 2008 Some trains change crews in platform 4 such as 4O90. 56303 makes a brief stop. The absence of loops causes congestion and the following 1627 was delayed with a very slow run to Northampton behind the 56.

9 January 2008 57009 worked south to Willesden on Tuesday and on Wednesday and Thursday did a return crew training run to Crewe, before returning with an Ashford - Crewe stoneblower move on Friday. 0Z77 is seen passing Bradwell on Wednesday.

9 January 2008 Network West Midlands 150132 slows for Bow Brickhill. With 153334 noted out on training runs on Thursday and Friday presumably the end is near for the 150s on the branch.

10 January 2008 The only shot taken on 10 January on a return visit to Rugby mainly to see 66423 at Daventry. 66145 heads north through platform 1 with a sand train comprising MHAs and MTAs.

14 January 2008 A scene which could be a remote country branch rather than the southern edge of Milton Keynes. 153334 pauses at Bow Brickhill as the sun sets with the 5T60 15.16 Bedford-Bletchley training run prior to the introduction of the 153s in passenger service.

15 January 2008 After a morning of dreadful weather I hadn't expected to go out, but 6H50 was running so I headed for Bradwell. Running in 6H50's normal path was 66538 on a 4Z43 Tilbury-Lawley Street.

15 January 2008 60046 followed with 6H50 about 15 minutes later than booked, always an impressive train despite the gloomy weather.

16 January 2008 With a sunny day forecast I headed for Cheddington. 92004 heads north on 4H24.

16 January 2008 90034 coasts south running as 0Z27 Crewe-Wembley

16 January 2008 A short pause for 321435 on the 1215 Milton Keynes to Euston.

16 January 2008 As is often the case, 4O35 from Crewe to Southampton is loaded at the back. 66516 passes Cheddington.

16 January 2008 66538 has a much better load and presents a more balanced picture on the 4L93 Lawley Street - Felixstowe

16 January 2008 Several of the liners from Felixstowe were lightly loaded after the gales had shut the port the previous day. 90046 has a decent load on 4M81 to Ditton and is missing the Freightliner logo on this side.

16 January 2008 The afternoon went very quiet with 4M88, 4L75 and 6A51 all cancelled. This is 66539 on the new Daventry-Tilbury service.

16 January 2008 325003 leads 1A32 from Warrington to Willesden on the up slow.

16 January 2008 350110 is one of the Desiros which has had the wiper damage repaired on one side only and is therefore missing the yellow vinyl. Seen on the 1409 Northampton-Euston at Cheddington.

18 January 2008 4L57 from Daventry-Tilbury again, but this time passing Wolverton behind 66581 Sophie, normally a Heavy Haul loco.

18 January 2008 90018 leads 90024 north through Wolverton on the 0Z23 Wembley-Crewe

18 January 2008 66240 heads south on the Bescot-Forders

18 January 2008 Also heading for Forders were 60093 and 66004 at Wolverton. The 60 returned with an engineers train to Tamworth that evening.

18 January 2008 Highlight of the day was the return of Colas liveried 47727 with a couple of track machines. 47727 had worked light from Tyseley in the morning and returned as 6Z47 from West Ealing to Bescot passing Wolverton just after 4pm by which time it was a little dark! - ISO 1600 1/500th at f1.8.

23 January 2008 With the slow lines shut most of the afternoon, I didn't take many shots. 66067 heads south with the Bescot - Forders. Amongst the shots I missed were 67029/024 on the Chelsea footex and 57601/47804 on a Euston-Liverpool Police charter

23 January 2008 When the slow line possession north of Wolverton was finally lifted, 67006/005 were able to depart for Bescot having deposited the Royal Stock in Centre Sidings almost 3 hours earlier.
