1 September 2008 September started with the closure of the North London line for engineering work. One of several trains diverted from the MML across the Bedford - Bletchley is the 6L84 Croft - Bow Olympic seen behind 66529 at a very overgrown Lidlington!

1 September 2008 90049 with NXEA 90006 heads north at Wolverton on 4M88.

1 September 2008 90006 heading to Crewe for overhaul replacing 90003 which returned in a diverted 4L75 via Nottingham after the bank holiday.

1 September 2008 37712 could be heard for a couple of minutes approaching from the south. A wonderful noise and sight as she thundered through with the 5Z86 Southall-Carnforth.

2 September 2008 Prior to the fire on 86501 I had not tried the A4146 bypass bridge but there is a reasonable morning up slow shot. 92036 heads south with 4A27 running around 2 hours late.

2 September 2008 321406/430 head north in the sun at Soulbury Road. With arrival of the desiros over the next few months we will probably wish we had photographed the 321s more!

2 September 2008 One of the other diverted freights is the 6M92 West Thurrock - Earles cement empties. Sadly the light had deteriorated and the rain started to such an extent I didn't even wait for the 86s following on 4M87!

3 September 2008 The reduced pendolino service as a result of the Trent Valley engineering work meant that 4M23 was booked via Weedon for two weeks. A visit to Blisworth catches an unidentified pendolino heading north as 4M23 was almost an hour late!

3 September 2008 Despite the late running, 66720 heads north in a very lucky patch of sun after some very dark clouds and sharp showers!

3 September 2008 Freight has always been rare on the Weedon line and although other freights used the loop over the 2 week closure, to capture 4M88 in sun with 86622 DIT behind 66575 was a complete bonus.

16 September 2008 After a very quiet hour, 90049 heads north at Bletchley with the late running 4M51 Tilbury-Daventry.

16 September 2008 The third diverted working is the Tuesdays/Thursdays Croft - Bow and return formed of Bardon Hoppers. 66614 is on return 6M47 empties shortly after platform 5 reopened at Bletchley.

16 September 2008 A welcome bit of colour on a dull afternoon. 60059 on the Willesden - Tunstead empties at Bradwell returning to its normal route after the excursion down the ECML during the Rugby blockade.

17 September 2008 The Tilbury liner is timed to stop at Ripple Lane and on several days this week has been formed of two distinct portions. 66413 with a load of mainly Geest containers at the front and more normal tanktainers at the back passes Linslade on a dull Wednesday afternoon.

18 September 2008 With just a handful of 323's remaining in Centro colours, 323240 is the latest to arrive at Wolverton.

18 September 2008 After being a fairly solid 66 turn, 4L57 seems to have changed to 90 haulage. Distinguished from the Felixstowe liner which runs at a similar time by the shorter train, all lower boxes and normally better loadings, 90046 rounds the curve at Wolverton.
